Dear
Sanctuary NYC Friends,
Last night I saw Ms Cicely Tyson in A Trip to Bountiful, for which she won this year's Tony award for best Actress in a Play. This was the first performance the cast did since the awards, so the air was filled with a special kind of electricity. What a performance. What a play.
Playwright Horton Foote touches a chord deep inside each of us through the character of Ms Carrie Watts, an elderly woman with a young heart and spirit, who has spent twenty years cooped up in an urban Houston apartment with her son and his narcissistic wife. She longs to go back to her home in Bountiful, Texas just one more time.
The goal of spiritual community is to remind us of who we are, of what our true place and purpose are, and to connect the dots for one another so that we can all be the full expressions of the Perfection we really are. We ALL have a longing to return home.
We have just completed a FABULOUS twelve week series on an emerging developmental model for spiritual growth, development and unfoldment. Wow and it was in technicolor too. The point of it was to give us some ideas about how we might remember who we are, on our own journey to Bountiful.
There is no religion that has a lock on God. The only Truth is that we are One with this magnificent Mystery that breathes us and all living things. You may use the Path of Sufism to get to Bountiful, or of Christianity or of Greyhound Bus or Buddhism. These are all Ways or paths but the Truth transcends the Way that gets us there. The Truth is the Truth and it truly sets us free.
Hope you are having a great early summer, wherever you are. We have a full weekend of blessings at Sanctuary NYC starting tomorrow, June 14th, with the Sounds of Sanctuary NYC Choir Concert at 8 pm at West Park Presbyterian on 86th and Amsterdam. Join us!! Then check out the Saturday and Sunday offerings.
See you on the Path
We love to see your face:)
Peace out,
Rev. Jane

This week, we are so excited to be finalizing preparation for our first Sounds of Sanctuary Spring Concert on FRIDAY. The concert begins promptly at 8pm, at West Park Church. Doors will open at 7:30. Tickets are still available through any choir member, or at the door for a $15 contribution. We SO look forward to sharing some of the music that has emerged from our beloved community. We will be singing a mix of original music written for Sanctuary this year, as well as adaptations of spiritual vocal music, some contemporary, others over a century old. Expect plenty of funk and world music in the beat! Joy is the name of the game! Join us and let's get lifted!! Let us know you're coming on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/577189792321769
